How Is Coaching Different From…
Consulting – Coaching is a form of consulting. But the coach stays with the client to help implement the new skills, changes, and goals to hold the client accountable.
Therapy – Coaching does not work on issues. We can make trusted recommendations to licensed mental health professionals if necessary. Coaching, however, will focus on setting personal and professional goals that will create the future results clients are really looking for.
Sports Coaching – Coaching includes several principles from sports coaching like team work, going for the goal, and being your best. However, professional coaching is not competition based. We strengthen the client’s own skills vs. helping them “beat” the other team.
Coaching Is A Relationship
- Relationship is the foundation of coaching: The coach and client intentionally develop a relationship, which is characterized by a mutual appreciation, respect, and shared commitment to the client’s results.
- A coach relates to the client as a partner: A coach does not relate to the client from a position of an expert, authority, or healer. A coach and client will instead work together choose the focus, format, and desired outcomes for their work together. All the while, the client maintains the responsibility for meeting or exceeding their goals.
- Coaching is a hybrid relationship: A coach is close enough to care, while keeping enough professional distance to serve the client in an unattached fashion.
