Competitive AdvantageNo matter what industry?you’re in, it’s a competitive marketplace. ?Not only do you want to AVOID “shooting yourself in the foot before you begin the race” but its also critical that you establish your Competitive Advantage! ?I am not talking about cheating, but truly providing a “unique selling proposition” or “differentiation piece” so you stand out as an obvious choice.

Whatever it is that you do, there are dozens of other people who can do the same job, so why would someone hire you instead of THEM?

To help my clients establish Competitive Advantage, I ask the two questions you see below?and, believe if or not, most people don’t have an answer to this. Be clear, however, that if you want to stand out and be successful, it’s time to establish your competitive advantage.

Here are two questions?you need to answer:

  1. What do you do?better than everyone else who has your job??Think about all the things you do for your job. Most likely, everyone else who has your job also does the same thing. How are you doing it better?
  2. What do you do that no one else does? – Can you find something or create something that no one else who does what you do is doing?

I have many examples from my “job”?as a Life and Business coach and the one I am perhaps most proud of is that I offer two complimentary coaching sessions which is BOTH better than just one?(what most coaches offer) and unique. ?My complimentary sessions are better because I don’t spend any time in the first session selling or going over pricing. It’s a full session dedicated to your business. I then offer my second complimentary coaching session so you get a sense of the follow up and support I will offer during our time together. Offering TWO Complimentary Session is also something I do that?no one else does!!!?The 2 complimentary sessions themselves are unique.

Another competitive advantage I just launched is my?Power Breakfast coaching sessions for $10. ?There is no other coach out there who will offer you a gourmet breakfast, stunning view of San Diego and an eCourse download just for showing up.?Competitive Advantage

If you would like my help establishing or?creating your own competitive advantage,?then let’s talk! ?You can?take advantage of my offer, 2 complimentary coaching sessions.?Also join me Fridays this fall for a Power Breakfast. I have a couple more free Power Breakfast?passes to give out this month. Let’s make sure you stand out and get hired in this dog eat dog world with your competitive advantage!

I talk about the importance of public speaking all the time. In fact, I even offer my free E-Book, The 5th Step to Fearless Public Speaking. You know I can talk the talk when it comes to teaching others about speaking. Well this week, I?m going to walk the walk (while I talk!) and invite you to come watch me speak.

Jeff Klubeck SpeakingI was chosen to give a presentation to the SDSU International Business Society on Thursday October 29th, 2015 at 6:30pm by my former student, Maria Miller. I absolutely love when one of my Community College Students transfers to the 4-year of their choice. Maria is now a proud Aztec and asked?me to address this great group of ambitious future leaders.

The topic I?m speaking on is public speaking itself! My presentation is titled ?Overcome your fear of public speaking, be fearless!?

As a Speaker, they?re allowing me to bring guests, so I?m inviting all of you! Come out to SDSU this Thursday to hear me speak and connect with up and coming business leaders. I?ll be heading to Trujillo?s after my presentation for some beverages and networking.

If you?d like to attend on Thursday October 29th, come to the Legacy Suite on the?third floor of the Aztec Student Union at 6:30pm. I will see you there!

Assessments User’s Conference: 3 Takeaways!

Assessments User’s Conference: 3 Takeaways!

Continuing education is something I strongly believe in as a Coach and Professor. ?I recently had an opportunity to attend the Assessments 24×7 User’s Conference at the San Diego Courtyard Marriott in Liberty Station. It was a nice change of pace being on the student side of the classroom. I snagged a front row seat. By the way, I always recommend sitting in the front row because you have less distractions and you’re more engaged with the speakers.

I had a chance to connect with two of my mentors, Jim Cathcart, one of the world’s top 5 speakers on sales & service and Tony Alessandra, CEO of Assessments 24×7. These guys are National Speaker’s Association Hall of Famers. It is always a pleasure to be in their company and hear them speak.

I also got to catch up with ?familiar faces, connect with?new people and of course I?learned a lot of great information at the Assessments Users Conference. Here are my top 3 takeaways that perhaps you can apply to your own business:

  1. Collaborative Selling: ?Rick Barrera gave a wonderful talk on this topic and a BIG take-away for me was to “NEVER send a Proposal?instead, send a Collaboration Summary!” ?A Proposal is a guess in the dark as to what the prospective client may need?it is rooted in the pursuit of a “transaction” that sells a program. ?Instead, we should seek to “so deepen our relationship with our points-of-contact and decision-makers” that they work WITH US to identify the solutions to their problems. ?When our points-of-contact collaborate with us on the solution, we are not submitting a “proposal” but, instead, a “summary” of the collaborative effort to identify solutions to real problems. ?Go ahead and offer to write it up?but DON’T call it a Proposal! ?The key to all of this is an upfront relationship-focused, open ended and transformational approach to selling that leaves the transactional models where they belong?in the past or on the used-car lot!
  2. Success Velocity:? Jim Cathcart, National Speakers Association Past President and Hall of Famer, gave a wonderfully motivational talk on the energy, drive and alignment that make up our “Success Velocity.” ?His concept is similar to what we have heard about “flow” but goes further to challenge our levels of self-awareness. ?Beneath (or falling short of) our Flow is the land of Boredom, Apathy and Depression. ?Above (surpassing what is required for) our Flow is the land of Anxiety, Stress and Burnout! ?It is a commitment to be self-aware (of our Mindset, Actions, Habits, Reputation, Relationships and Desired Future) that keeps us in the sweet spot of flow and determines our overall Success Velocity!
  3. Game-ification: ?Faith Ralston, Ph.D. and CEO of Play to Your Strengths Consulting taught us a little bit about “Playing it Up” and sampled three games we can play as trainers to get our clients talking and, more importantly, talking openly about their strengths and weakness. ?Faith has brilliantly developed decks of cards; each containing a behavioral adjective and “psychometric” category that correspond with some major Assessments used in the Marketplace (DISC being one, of course). ?Faith explained that while talking openly about (and getting help with) our weaknesses is valuable, The ROI (return on investment) of playing to our strengths is far greater than energy invested in overcoming weaknesses.

I’m already looking forward to next year’s conference. In the mean time, keep learning! If you want to chat more about what I learned at the conference or ask me any other questions?related to your business, remember to join me for my Power Breakfast on Fridays. I still have a couple free spots open to enjoy a gourmet breakfast with me at the University Club. Who’s going to take action and sign up?

Most of you know I’m all about being efficient. Perhaps you’ve seen my Drive-By Coaching videos that make my drive-time a little more productive.  The great response to that program got me thinking:  Where else in my life can I feed 2 birds with one grain? That’s when my latest, idea came to mind: Get a Klu Power Breakfast.  They say there is no such thing as a free lunch.  Whoever “they” are, never said there’s no such thing as free breakfast!

Every Friday this Fall, I teach a class at SD City College downtown starting at 8am.  So, every Friday I also have breakfast right before my class at the University Club from 7am- 7:45am.  There’s no reason for me to enjoy a delicious breakfast and great view alone, so my newest idea is hosting my Get a Klu Power Breakfast every Friday.

University Club Power Breakfast with Get a Klu
The Get a Klu Power Breakfast is a chance for you to come ask me any questions you have about your life or business, learn tips about speaking and accountability or to get sound boarding on any of your ventures.  Maybe we can even come up with ideas to feed 2 birds with one grain for your business.  This is an open ended discussion so who knows where the conversation might go!  Some times it might just be the 2 of us and sometimes we’ll have a small group.

The breakfast is just $10 and as a bonus you can also get a code for free access to my eCourse: 8 Steps to Fearless Public Speaking (Normally $29).

To celebrate the launch of the Get a Klu Power Breakfast, I am giving away 5 free breakfasts in the month of October to the first 5 people who comment on this post.  To enter, leave me a comment and let me know what you look forward to discussing during our time together.  Additional details about the power breakfast will be provided to those looking to RSVP by emailing us at:  info@getaklu.net

Let’s make the most important meal of the day count during the Get a Klu Power Breakfast.

My marketing team has been telling me to shoot more video. My first thought was “When do I have time to do that?” And then my idea of Drive-By Coaching was born. It’s a ?fun concept I came up with to take advantage of my time spent in traffic. When I am driving after?I finish?a session, the content of the session is still top of mind…so I thought, why not lay down some?video while the ideas are still fresh?!

So, “Drive-By Coaching” is raw (unscripted and unedited) footage that I take during my drive with ideas, tips or strategies that I hope can help your life or business. I know you’re wondering “Is this safe Jeff?” Don’t worry?it is every bit as safe as if you were sitting shot-gun in the car with me and we were having a normal conversation. ?Except, its Coaching!

Drive-By Coaching videos will be posted exclusively on Facebook at least a couple times a month?and sometimes as often as?a couple times a DAY. ?Make sure to join the?Klu Yard Facebook to catch my latest video. Below are a couple links to videos I’ve already created. Click the image to see the video on Facebook.
